Originally developed in Germany in the 1940s, Fanta is now part of the Coca-Cola Company and is one of the most popular brands in its portfolio. The story of Fanta begins in 1940 during World War II. Due to trade restrictions, Coca-Cola in Germany could no longer import the necessary ingredients to make their classic drink. Max Keith, the then head of Coca-Cola Germany, then developed a new drink from available ingredients such as whey and apple pulp. The result was Fanta, named after the German word “fantasy”.
