Cassava/Manioc bread, 308g
Casabe is an ancient food consisting of only one ingredient: cassava (manioc).
Made by peeling, washing, grating, drying and baking 'yuca' (manioc root, the staple food of the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean), casabe is still part of Dominican cuisine today. Casabe is very rich in fibre, has no cholesterol, no sodium, no fat and only a moderate amount of carbohydrates. Casabe is often served with mambá (Dominican salty peanut butter) or with habichuelas con dulce, a uniquely Dominican dessert.
