Annatto/Achiote
Annato es la semilla del árbol del achiote, originario de América Central y del Sur, México y el Caribe. Las semillas y la pulpa se han utilizado durante cientos de años para diversos fines y se emplean mucho en América Latina como colorante, medicina e ingrediente de muchos alimentos.
El color es naturalmente intenso y puede ir del amarillo al naranja oscuro. El achiote se utiliza a menudo en sopas, guisos, salsas y adobos, y confiere a los platos un sabor dulce, terroso y picante.
